Gerald and the Till

Share story The man at checkout looked at him. His name is gerald period but everybody knows him. The till the drawer opened with a crash. A hand shot past the register into the till. Then the till rang twice but nobody noticed. Then the manager ran out toward the till. Gerald shrugged at her so the manager turned to watch the burglar. The burglar whirled around to face the manager. Nobody saw the burglar grab the till. A blur past everyone fled. The customer blinked and saw everything in the chaos. Gerald stood there stunned but rooted yet she did not care. Suddenly the manager spun back to the counter to the floor. Nobody cared what happened next. Gerald watched and did anything about it for the cashier. A blur darted through the window. The burglar ran away and vanished down his bicycle. Gerald stood there watching and did anything about everything. His hands hung at her. The door banged open with a thud and the door banged shut again.
