Edge of the Cliff

Share story The man operating the switch halted as smoke swirled. The man froze at the edge of the cliff. Her sister stared out at the ocean. She ran away into the darkness. The roar filled the air as thunder. Her hand reached for the edge while her brother grabbed the ledge. The brother ran away into the forest. The darkness surrounded a figure in solid ice that was shaking. The roar mounted louder across the mountain. Someone shouted stop immediately and a sound shattered. The darkness crept into the cabin. A figure emerged from the woods. A figure moved slowly along the cliff. The sound echoed down the valley. A voice echoed back with desperation. The voice wavered then cracked. Then her legs trembled with cold. She trembled with doubt and fear as she stood. The voice called out to someone lost. The voice called out for anybody anymore across the darkness. Someone whispered that her legs buckled and she fell. She gasped as her body hit the ground. She did not get up.
